Project Dates: July 24th to August 11th
Projected Cost: $425 excluding airfare

For summer 2008, Cornell Health International is running a project that will focus on development issues of modern Mayan communities in Guatemala. Participants will attend a cooperative school nested on the skirts of a dormant volcano and Lake Atitlan, where students will take private Spanish lessons in the mornings and then volunteer in the afternoons. CHI project members will participate in the school’s outreach program, which assists extremely needy local families with whom they share a partnership and supports a local elementary school in its arts, physical education, and language learning programs; in addition, we will volunteer with local organizations that are independent of the school.

Please contact or Shoan Yin Cheung (sc479) if you cannot make the Project Meeting but are still interested in the project.
